Ordering and quoting

What to send, how pricing works, and what happens after your request.

Which 3D file formats do you accept?

You can upload STL, STEP, 3MF, OBJ, or a ZIP containing the relevant files. STEP is useful when geometry needs reviewing, while STL and 3MF are common print-ready formats.

Can you help me choose a material?

Yes. Tell us what the part must do, where it will be used, and any exposure to load, impact, heat, sunlight, water, or chemicals. We can recommend a sensible option from the materials available.

Can I order a single 3D printed part?

Yes. We support one-off prototypes and custom parts as well as repeat small batch production.

How much does 3D printing cost?

Price depends on part size, print time, material, quantity, geometry, support requirements, and finishing. Upload the file and project details for an accurate quote.

How long will my order take?

Lead time depends on the part, quantity, material, and current production schedule. We provide an expected lead time with the quote and can discuss deadlines before the order is approved.

Parts, performance, and production

Practical considerations for functional parts and repeat orders.

Are FDM 3D printed parts strong?

They can be strong and useful when the geometry, material, and print orientation suit the application. Strength is directional because parts are built in layers, so application details matter.

What tolerances can you achieve?

Tolerance varies with size, geometry, material, orientation, and feature type. Identify important mating dimensions or clearances in your request so they can be reviewed individually.

Can you print replacement parts?

Yes, where a suitable printable model is available and the intended application is appropriate. Replacement parts should not automatically be assumed suitable for safety-critical use.

Do you offer small batch manufacturing?

Yes. Once a design and specification are agreed, we can manufacture repeat low-volume batches without the tooling cost of conventional moulding.

Do you deliver throughout the UK?

Yes. Dextri is UK based and dispatches orders to customers throughout the United Kingdom. Worldwide shipping may also be available depending on the order.

Before Uploading

What makes a useful quote request?

Include the quantity, preferred material and colour, required delivery date, and a short explanation of what the part does.

If the part must fit something else, identify the important dimensions or clearances. For functional parts, mention load, movement, heat, outdoor exposure, water, chemicals, or repeated impact.

If you do not know the right material, select “Other / Not sure” on the quote form. The intended use is usually more helpful than guessing.
